In Construction: Coffee Game

At Vhite Rabbit, we have had weekly meetings for over three years now. Meeting this way often made the team grow closer together and allowed people to present all kinds of crazy (and also not so crazy) ideas. Since we started working on Construct Arcade, we now have the opportunities to put some of the smaller ideas to good use. For the ideas we implement, the development will be documented on this blog.

“In Construction” is a series that gives insights into the development of WebVR games.

The first game in the series is titled “Coffee Game” (Not final!) and was first concepted and talked about back in May 2017. In the figure above, you can see one of the first concepts our artist Falk created. Back then, we were working primarily on Unreal Engine desktop games, but started working with WebVR since then. A lot has happened in the meantime and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to be able to work on this game now.

We are aiming to create a fast-paced coffeemaking experience, that places the player in the shoes of a very focused barista. While you are trying to prepare the orders of your customers, more and more people will cue up to taste the delicious brew you are making. Your goal is to satisfy as many customers by producing the right order. If you do everything right, some of them might leave you a tip for your great service!

Right now, the development for the game has started part-time, with the looks being developed first to see wether what we had imagined back in the day makes sense to further pursue or not. The basic room has been modeled and the first designs in A-Frame look promising. We will see in the upcoming weeks how the game comes along. Our goal is to have a playable version running as soon as possible.

If you have any suggestions on the art style or any other interesting ideas that you want to discuss, feel free to join the conversation in the forums.

See you next time, Florian from Construct Arcade
